Help us pick the date

Jim/Art of Gardening and I have been discussing the timing of our garden bloggers’ get-together in Buffalo in 2010. Should it be during the actual weekend of Garden Walk Buffalo, or not? On the one hand, it would be glorious for all you bloggers to see Garden Walk in action—and you would have access to all the 300plus gardens. It is a very exciting weekend in Buffalo. We would likely include all of Friday in the event, so we'd have a non-Walk day; during Sat-Sun, you'd tour the Walk by day and we'd gather in the evenings.

On the other hand, we’d have more time together as a group if we did the Buffalo event sometime before Garden Walk, where some of the Walk gardens would be available and we could do other excursions, as well, in a less hectic atmosphere (Garden Walk gets thousands of visitors).

Jim has put together a very simple poll for this. If you think you might come to the Buffalo event next year, please take the poll. It will be very helpful!!

And email us with your thoughts too, if you’d like: BuffaloFling(at)yahoo.com. Or comment here. Jim and I will look at everything and make a decision very soon.

At first I thought a 300+ tour would be great but with the social side of the SF it would be very tiring. I feel like I will get to the Buffalo Walk at some point and time so I wouldn't mind if the SF is seperate. I don't have a definitive thought on it. Heck you two are arranging things. I think you should do what is easiest for you. I know there is plenty to see in your area.

I think it would be neat to see a special Buffalo event like the Garden Walk, but we would have to make sure there were hotel rooms blocked off first. If this event draws hundreds of people, we need to ensure that the bloggers don't have issues with lodging. If a hotel for us can be arranged during this weekend, then it might work out great. But I'm with Lisa--it isn't necessary to have the Fling during the Walk.

Giving this some thought, and voting on Jim's poll, it seems the more time for group discussions and not so crowded hotel conditions wins out for me. I would love to see those walk gardens though, but know you will arrange for plenty of great garden viewing either way.

I vote for less crowded less hectic although I'm afraid having two events might mean more work for you, Eliz. Thank you and Jim for hosting next year.~~Dee

I voted. It will be my first fling. Less frantic for us but probably more work for you--I vote for the non-Garden Walk dates. I'm already looking forward to this!

I went over and voted for during the Walk, but as long as it is held after July 4th, I'm okay with either.

I will check out Jim's poll and vote. As great as the Garden Walk sounds, I'm all in favor of a less crowded time.

I'm liking the pre Garden Walk idea. Some Garden Walk arrangements, would be nice, and some other activities aforementioned.
